COVID-19 hits VSSUT; All offline exams, classes suspended

Sambalpur: All offline examinations and physical classes were suspended at the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Sambalpur district after many students were infected with COVID-19 at the campus.

The district administration sent students of the VSSUT to their houses after more than 22 students tested positive for COVID-19 in last three days, informed VSSUT Vice Chancellor Prof. Bansidhar Majhi on Thursday.

Following detection of COVID-19 cases at the VSSUT, the varsity suspended all offline examinations scheduled to begin from yesterday.

The students, who tested negative for the virus, have been sent to their houses and infected students have been put under isolation at a hostel on premises of the university.

The district administration has made arrangements to keep the students tested positive for COVID-19 under isolation at Angira hostel on premises of the VSSUT to contain spread of the virus, VSSUT official stated.

Meanwhile, the university authorities have decided to conduct online classes for the students from January 10.
