COVID-19 hospitals to come up in Kalahandi, Sambalpur districts soon

Bhubaneswar: Secretary of 5T initiative VK Pandian and Development Commissioner Suresh Mohapatra today reviewed the progress of work of standalone COVID-19 hospitals in Kalahandi and Sambalpur districts.

Official source said Pandian and Mohapatra expressed satisfaction on the progress of the work of the standalone COVID hospitals.

In Bhawanipatna, the standalone COVID-19 Hospital of the Odisha government will have 200 beds including 6 ICUs. It has been setup in the Government Engineering College. Initially the hospital became operational with 50 beds and the capacity will increase to 200 beds within seven days.

Similarly, in Sambalpur, the standalone COVID-19 Hospital will

have 200 beds including 20 ICUs. It will function from the District Headquarter Hospital.

They also directed both the district  administrations to ensure that the agricultural (including movement of agricultural produce) and other activities are exempted from the lockdown.

Official sources said the Kalahandi SP was directed to ensure that the Chhattisgarh border with Odisha is sealed.

In Sambalpur, the DIG was asked to ensure smooth movement of agricultural produce in Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Jharsuguda and Sonepur districts. The cop was also asked to keep a watch on the communal situation, the sources added.

So far 21 COVID-19 hospitals with a bed capacity of 3,620 have been made operational in 19 districts in the State.
