COVID-19: Lockdown announced in this Odisha district till August 14

Koraput: Koraput Collector today announced lockdown in entire district for a period of 14 days after 46 cases reported from the district in the last 24 hours.

The strict measure has been taken to prevent spread of infection due to novel coronavirus in the district.

As per the order, the lockdown in Koraput district will be in force till August 14 midnight with effect from August 1 midnight.

With the move, the functioning of all commercial establishments, vehicular movements, non-essential activities excluding healthcare and essential services will be restricted during 14-day lockdown.

However, the shops will remain opened from 5.00 AM to 1.00 PM everyday till August 14.

Already, the district is under shutdown for 48 hours that will end on August 1 midnight. Afterward, the lockdown will be enforced in the district to combat the virus.

Further decision will be taken on enforcement of weekend shutdown after completion of 14-day lockdown in the district, said the Collector.

The district has reported 46 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 during test conducted on July 31.

Sharing details of fresh COVID-19 cases, Collector said that out of 46, 24 are male persons and 22 are females. While 33 cases are the direct contact of previous positive cases, 17 of them have been detected from containment zones.  Similarly, 10 persons put under home quarantine have been infected with the virus and 3 more cases have been reported from different TMCs (temporary medical camps) in the district.

The district witnessed total 817 COVID-19 positive cases, of which 555 are active. However, no fatality due to the virus has been reported so far in the district.
