COVID-19 lockdown: Non-ration card holders to avail kerosene in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In view of the lockdown situation prevailing in Odisha due to COVID-19 pandemic, the state government has decided to provide kerosene oil to non-ration card holders for their domestic use.

As per the decision, the non-ration card holders will be provided 2 litre kerosene per family, informed Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain.

In this regard, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has written to collectors of all the districts asking distribution of balance stocks of kerosene oil of January-March 2020 to non-ration card holders during COVID-19 situation.

“It is ascertained that there is 3458 kl of SK oil available with the wholesalers and 98 kl SK oil with the Fair Price shops across the state as on 31.03.2020,” the Department said in the letter.

The collectors have been directed to utilize the available kerosene for distribution to non-ration card holders at 2 litre per family on first come first service at the rate fixed by the district during March 2020.

With the move, over 17 lakh non-ration card holders families will be benefited in the state.

After distribution, a detailed report regarding distribution of kerosene to non-ration card beneficiaries will be submitted to the Department for record.
