COVID-19 lockdown: This is how people celebrated Utkala Dibasa in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: True that the festive spirit of all Odias on the 84th Foundation Day of Odisha, celebrated as Utkala Dibasa, today was dampened due to coronavirus outbreak leading to the subsequent 21-day lockdown, but it failed to pour cold water on the very spirit.

For the first time, there are no decorations, rallies, cultural events or any other kind of celebration anywhere in the state to mark the day as the entire state is united to fight the battle against coronavirus and the only way to survive this pandemic is to stand divided for the time being.

However, this Utkala Dibasa, as we all are under ‘house arrest’ abiding by the social distancing norms to break the chain, let’s see how celebrities and people of the state celebrated the occasion.

Ollywood actor Babusan Mohanty took to Facebook and wished people on the statehood day.

Similarly, Ollywood actress Anu Choudhury also wished people on the occasion.

India’s ‘Raw Star’ Rituraj Mohanty wished people through the famous song performed on ‘Coke Studio’ earlier.

Tele actor Sujeet Paikray also conveyed his message through this video below.

One Guruprasad Sahoo played the famous Bande Utkala Janani  written by Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra, on guitar and posted it on social media.

Navaratna PSU NALCO also posted a video to wish people on the occasion.
