COVID-19 lockdown: Young Odisha couple ties knot in police station

Bargarh: Love knows no boundaries. At a time when nationwide lockdown is in force restricting celebrations and all kinds of events in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, a young couple in Odisha decided to stay together by tying the nuptial knot in a different way without violating norms.

The incident was reported from Bargarh district where the Pabitra Sahoo of Nadipada and Lakshmi Meher of Ambapali locality married at the Town Police Station on Tuesday.

Source said that the couple was in love with each other since a past one year. They wanted to go for registry wedding instead of living up to random expectations placed on their relationship by others. But, their plan was foiled due to enforcement of 21-day complete lockdown in the country.

However, all the restrictions faded away before love. Their wedding was solemnized at Bargarh Town Police Station yesterday in presence of district Additional SP Amarendra Rana and a few volunteers.

Wearing masks on their face and maintaining social distancing, Pabitra and Lakshmi tied the knot in a low key affair. The newlywed couple was advised to abide the lockdown guidelines to fight COVID-19.
