COVID-19: Odisha deputes two senior officials for surveillance in Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: In view of COVID-19 positive cases being reported from Ganjam district, Odisha Government deputed two senior officials for surveillance in the district.

A team of officials comprising of Family Welfare Director Bijay Kumar Panigrahi and Bhubaneswar RMRC Scientist Jaysingh Khatri has been assigned for Ganjam to supervise the surveillance and containment measures, said a notification issued by Health & Family Welfare Department yesterday.

Besides, the MKCG Medical College & Hospital will form a five-member RRT consisting of a professor from pulmonary medicine or medicine department, a professor or associate professor of anesthesiology, a professor or associate professor of microbiology department and two faculty members of community medicine department to strengthen the surveillance, contact tracing and testing as well as the medical preparedness.

A total number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased to 4 in Ganjam so far after a large number of stranded labourers reached the district from Surat.
