COVID-19: Odisha Govt to develop prefab structures at health care facilities

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has planned to develop 6, 20 and 50 bedded prefab structure at different health care facilities in the state under Emergency COVID Response Plan-II, to deal with possible COVID-related exigencies in future.

In this regard, Works Department today wrote to Chief Engineer (Buildings) requesting him to take immediate steps for execution of the project in consultation with National Health Mission (NHM) Odisha and Health and Family Welfare Department.

According to a letter written to the Government of Odisha by NHM Odisha Director Shalini Pandit on September 8, the project should be completed well before March 31, 2022. Efforts should be made to ensure that there is no duplication in procurement being done by various agencies at the state level.

“All procurements should be undertaken through GeM using the resources under ECRP-II and this is a mandatory condition that the States/UTs would need to adhere to,” the letter read.

Accordingly, Rs 789.65 crore has been approved by the competent authority to Odisha under COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package Phase-II for implementation of the project between July 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022.
