COVID-19: Odisha set for over 1100 sample tests per day

Bhubaneswar: In what can be termed as a major boost for the Odisha Government in combating COVID-19, facilities for testing of over 1100  samples per day has been readied in the state, informed Sanjay Singh, Secretary, Information & Public Relations Department today.

With functionalization of a high throughput COBAS testing machine, the per day testing capacity at ICMR-RMRC here is set to reach 1000 per day from today, he said.

With new facilities at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and VIMSAR in Burla having per day sample testing capacity of 25 each expected to be launched on April 13 and 15, respectively, the total testing capacity of the state is set to reach 1175 per day, he added.

Currently, the tests are being carried out at RMRC in Bhubaneswar, SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and AIIMS-Bhubaneswar.
