COVID-19: Odisha’s tally mounts to 289 with maiden case from Nayagrah

Bhubaneswar: A total number of COVID-19 cases rose to 289 in Odisha after maiden case was reported from Nayagarh district and one person in red zone Ganjam district tested positive for the deadly virus today.

The positive person in Nayagarh is a 40-year-old male, a Surat returnee, informed Information & Public Relations Department.

The contact tracing exercise is underway by the district administration.

It is to be mentioned that Nayagarh district, which is classified as Green Zone, is now affected by the deadly coronavirus following one person was found positive in the district.

Similarly, the total number of infected people rose to 84 in Ganjam district with all active cases.

Meanwhile, five more COVID-19 patients have recovered and tested negative for the virus in Odisha.

According to State Health & Family Welfare Department, the five are from Balasore and one from Jajpur. With this, the total recovered cases in the state stands at 68.

Earlier in the day, 17 positive cases were detected from Ganjam, Bhadrak, Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj district, out of which 12 were from Ganjam.
