COVID-19 outbreak: Massive screening drive in Odisha district from tomorrow

Berhampur: In view of a number of migrant workers returned to Ganjam district recently, authorities have decided to conduct a massive screening drive from tomorrow to detect novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

As part of precautionary measure to fight COVID-19, every person in the district to undergo health screening from tomorrow, informed Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.

Source said that screening drive will be completed within 3 days. There are more than 6,000 revenue villages in Ganjam district and a 5-member team comprising of ASHA & Anganwadi workers, teachers and health supervisors will be formed for each village.

The teams will carry out door-to-door survey and will inform the district control room if they find COVID-19 symptoms in anyone during surveillance process. Based on the report, the suspect will undergo treatment.

Worth mentioning, a large number people has returned to Ganjam district from overseas and other states in past one month amidst global spread of COVID-19.

Earlier, the district administration had directed to keep vigil on foreign returnees and persons with history of travelling other states and quarantine them for containment of spread of COVID-19 across the district.
