COVID-19 outbreak: No exam to be held for remaining subject of Class 9 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Odisha, the state government has decided to promote Class 9 students to Class 10 this academic session without conducting examination of the final paper.

Already, the examination has been held for five subjects of Class 9 and one paper is pending due to COVID-19 outbreak. Following evaluation of five papers, the students will be promoted to Class 10.

The discussion is underway to make arrangements for the teachers to evaluate the answer sheets of students staying at home, informed School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Department has formed an interim committee to take necessary initiative for the academic session 2020-21 after reviewing the pandemic situation. The first meeting of the committee was held through video conferencing programme. The panel has decided to hold the meeting on regular basis to take further course of action to continue imparting education without interruption during COVID-19 crisis.

Source said that a blueprint has been made to take classes of students, who will appear in the matriculation examination next year, online. The discussion in this regard will take place after completion of lockdown, which was extended till April 30 in Odisha.
