COVID-19 patient dies by suicide in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: An elderly woman infected with COVID-19 ended her life at a COVID hospital in Dhenkanal district today.

The deceased woman has been identified as Basanti Nayak of Biradia village under Sadar Block in the district.

According to reports, Basanti was undergoing treatment at the COVID Hospital in Dhenkanal after being tested positive for COVID-19 on October 29.

She was under treatment at a room where five others were also admitted.

The patient hanged herself from a fan of a vacant room with an IV tubing after the doctor finished a round of visits to the patients. A person immediately called the doctor for assistance. The victim was rescued following which she was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where she died at 2.55 pm today, informed Dhenkanal COVID Hospital in-charge Dr. SN Mohapatra.
