COVID-19: Sec 144 clamped around Sakhigopal Temple in Odisha

Puri: The district administration today clamped Section 144 around the famous Sakhigopal Temple ahead of Anla Navami to prohibit congregation on the auspicious occasion scheduled tomorrow.

The restrictions have been imposed from Chandanpokhari to Sidhhabakula for a period of four days starting today to curb the spread of Coronavirus infections.

The decision has been taken in view of possible crowd around the temple on Anla Navami.

The prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) will be in force within 200-metre radius of the temple from Nov 22 till Nov 25.

Though the devotees are prohibited to enter into the temple, the servitors will continue the rituals of deities. The special Anla Navami rituals will be held at the temple tomorrow.

Worth mentioning that lakhs of devotees throng the temple to get darshan of Lord Krishna and holy feet of Goddess Radha on Anla Navami during holy month of Kartik every year.

With the restrictions imposed around the temple, the devotees will not be allowed to get glimpse of deities at the temple on the special occasion in the holy month.
