COVID-19 spreads tentacles in these Govt offices in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: As the spread of COVID-19 continues unabated in Bhubaneswar, over a dozen of government offices are in clutches of the deadly virus in the city.

According to source, over 266 officials of more than 15 government offices including 7th Battalion and State Bank of India (main branch) have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar so far.

While 70 personnel of Commissionerate Police have been infected with the virus, 35 each from Lok Seva and Kharavel Bhawan, 35 at Special Intelligence Office, 33 at Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), 25 at SBI Main Branch, 23 at Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) offices, 15 at Odisha Hydro Power Corporation, 15 at Bhubaneswar Sub Registrar Office and Sub-Collector Office, 6 at Odisha State Housing Board and 4 at State Legislative Assembly have been found COVID-19 positive in the State capital.

A source in the BMC office said that the employees of these government offices frequently visit various places, come in contact with many people and attend several meetings. It is tough to ascertain the key source who transmitted the virus.

Not only in government offices, the number of infectees has increased in many private offices.

As per BMC source, 35 employees from Swosti Premium Hotel, 28 from Tech Mahindra, 15 from Aditya Birla Fashion and 10 from Hotel Crown have been infected with the novel coronavirus in Bhubaneswar.
