Sambalpur: In view of increasing cases of COVID-19 in Sambalpur district, authorities of the Sambalpur University decided to close the educational institution further for a week from tomorrow.

As per the office order dated today, the University office and PG Departments will remain shut from July 14 to 20.

However, all the employees of the varsity have been asked to keep their mobile phones switched on to be available on urgent notice or call.

The employees, who are not coming to office, will work from home. All the employees are required to remain in headquarters and any deviation in this regard will be viewed seriously, the office order stated.

Meanwhile, in view of pandemic situation due to COVID-19, Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla extended its closure period till July 18.

As July 19 falls on Sunday, the university will be functional effective from July 20.

Since many faculty members and supporting staff are put under quarantine following detection of COVID cases in the university, the VSSUT authorities decided to extend the closure period.
