COVID-19 tally breaches 8,000-mark in Bhubaneswar with 330 new cases; details here

Bhubaneswar: The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) tally breached 8,000-mark in Bhubaneswar with 330 new positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Of new cases, 139 are quarantine cases and 191 are local contacts, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

Following detection of 330 new cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases increased to 8261, of which 3306 are active.

This is for the second time, the single-day local contacts surpassed the quarantine cases in the past one month in Bhubaneswar. The city had registered the steep spike in local cases for the first time on July 18.

As per details of new cases shared by the BMC, nine employees of two private hospitals and 5 more police personnel tested positive for the deadly virus in different quarantine centres in Bhubaneswar. In quarantine cases, two persons with travel history to West Bengal are new infectees detected in the last 24 hours.

Besides, the city registered 185 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the total recovered cases to 4911. So far, the virus has claimed 35 lives in Bhubaneswar.
