COVID-19: This Odisha village declared containment zone

Deogarh: The district administration today declared Kalanda village under Tileibani block in Deogarh as the containment zone after 16 new COVID-19 cases detected in the village yesterday.

All the infected persons have been admitted to the district COVID care centre for treatment.

Following declaration of containment zone, entry of outsiders into the village has been strictly restricted and restriction has been imposed on movement of people and non-essential activities.

The permission has been given only for emergency work and essential services.

The first case was reported from Kalanda village on August 9. Later, 16 more persons linked with an earlier positive case were found positive for the deadly virus in the village.

Deogarh district has reported 117 COVID-19 cases so far, of which 23 are active and 94 recoveries. However, no fatality has occurred due to the virus in the district.
