COVID-19 Vaccination: Medical essentials reach Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Medical essentials like syringes and Ice lined Refrigerators (ILRs) have arrived in Odisha for COVID-19 vaccination expected to begin in the state  soon.

Reportedly, 21 lakh  syringes and 26 Ice lined Refrigerators (ILRs) for storage of the vaccine today reached the state. More 339 ILRs will be brought to the state in coming days. A database has been prepared for the vaccination in the state.

Currently, a list of 3.26 lakh health workers has been made for administration of the vaccine, informed Health and Family Welfare Department Director and Vaccine In-charge Bijay Panigrahi.

It is pertinent to mention here that the state Government has decided to vaccinate elderly persons,  COVID Warriors, including doctors and healthcare workers, employees of municipalities, Health, Electricity and Water Supplies departments free of cost in the first phase.

Informing this, Health Minister Naba Das earlier this month had hoped that vaccination drive will commence in Odisha in January.
