COVID-19 woman patient gives birth to twins in Odisha

Berhampur: A Surat returnee pregnant woman who had tested positive for COVID-19 has delivered twins at the MKCG Medical College & Hospital here today.

The patient was admitted to the special COVID-19 ward of the state-run hospital after she complained of labour pain.

Source said that she gave birth to a baby boy and girl at the hospital and both the patient and her twins are in normal condition.

The pregnant woman had returned to Ganjam district from Surat in Gujarat with her husband amid lockdown. Following their return, the couple was under government quarantine as part of the guidelines by the Ministry of Home Affairs. After the woman tested positive for the deadly virus, she was admitted to a COVID-19 hospital for treatment.

Yesterday, a pregnant woman, who had returned from Surat, had given birth to a baby boy at an institutional quarantine at Mardakota Harihar High School under Beguniapada Block in Ganjam district.
