COVID 3rd wave may arrive early in Odisha!

Bhubaneswar: The third wave of COVID-19 may arrive early in Odisha if people continue to not properly follow the guidelines stipulated by the Government to curb spread of the virus. 

Briefing mediapersons, Director of Health and Family Welfare Department Bijay Mohapatra said many shops and markets have been sealed in last five to six days as huge crowd was witnessed at several places.

“It was predicted that COVID-19 third wave will arrive in the state around September. But it may come before that if such situation continues, ” the health official cautioned.

He further said the rate of infection has declined and will be under control soon, hopefully. However, it may increase again if people don’t follow COVID appreciate behaviour.

Quoting a recent study, the official informed that infection rate of vaccinated people is .13 per cent and multiple studies are being done on this.

Regarding vaccination of expectant mothers, he said, “There is specific SOP for the inoculation of pregnant women that may affect the baby. We will gradually go by the SOP for the drive.”
