COVID management: Union min asks MCL to establish super specialty hosp in Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar: Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi has asked Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) to establish 150-bedded super specialty hospital in Odisha’s Sambalpur for COVID-19 management.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Petroleum Minister, had earlier urged Joshi for setting up of medical infrastructure in Odisha to tackle COVID-19.

“I have already instructed the management of MCL to positively consider the request received from you for setting up of a temporary 150-bedded super specialty hospital in Sambalpur, a 50-bedded COVID hospital in Vasundhara area, Sundargarh district, and providing 50 to 150 beds with oxygen, ICU and ventilator facilities for the COVID hospitals at Brajrajnagar, Lakhanpur and Talcher,” Joshi wrote in a letter to Pradhan.

“You will be happy to know that Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) during the FY 2020-2021 has contributed to setting up of various healthcare facilities under their command area in Odisha out of their CSR funds and, in addition, have taken up various other initiatives aimed at assuaging the sufferings of the people of Odisha in this hour of calamity,” Joshi added.
