Covid pandemic: Mask checking points to be set up in this Odisha district

Berhampur: The mask checking points will come up in all blocks and urban local bodies of Ganjam District soon. The decision has been taken by the Ganjam District Administration in the wake of the sudden increase in Covid cases in Maharashtra and some other States in recent past as well as the rise in movement of people.

While issuing fresh guidelines for people in the district, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange stated Tahsildars, EO and BDOs will set up the mask checking points where the mask usage directive will be strictly enforced with help of IIC.

The enforcement team of the check points are authorised to taken strict action against the violators, the Collector stated.

He further stated a ‘Letter of Appeal’ from senior officers will be distributed to the shopkeepers and vendors in the marketplace of the district to follow the ‘Panchasutra’ guidelines. Also, an Appeal Letter will be printed for all household.

A ‘Covid Safe Certificate’ for shops in the marketplace of all the ULBs will be issued.
If any shopkeeper is found violating Covid appropriate behavior, strict action will be taken against the businessman.

The strict Adherence of Covid Appropriate behaviour to be maintained and implemented in crowed places such as market, religious institution etc, the guideline added.

There should strict adherence of Covid appropriate behaviour in all public/private offices and institutions. Staff attending offices must wear face mask, ensure hand sanitisation in the entrance of the offices, maintain social distances among the staffs and public visiting offices. The head of the office will ensure 100% covid appropriate behaviour at his/her Office.

The guideline further stated adequate testing levels should be maintained as per guideline. Sub Collectors will monitor the daily swab collection progress in close coordination with BDOs. Advance strategy formulation to be ensured on a daily basis to identify new sources of infection.

Active contact tracing and travel history of all COVID +ve cases will be ensured by BDOs and Superintendents of CHCs.

The Collector directed the ASHA, AWW & ANMs to ensure early identification and referral for testing of suspected cases.

Strict adherence Covid Appropriate behaviour in public and private transport services will be maintained. All the staffs as well as the public travelling must wear mask and unnecessary overcrowded in /private transport services will not be allowed.
