COVID patient found dead in watercourse in Odisha

Angul: A COVID-19 patient was found dead in a watercourse at Raijharan village under Chhendipada Block in Angul district of Odisha.

The deceased person has been identified as Santosh Gochhayat (43) of Raijharan village.

Police source said that Gochhayat was working as a contractual labourer at the Jindal Plant in Angul. Three days ago, he had tested positive for COVID-19.

The 43-year-old man was missing from his home since afternoon on Saturday. At around 10.00 AM today, the villagers found his body floating in a watercourse within an irrigation project area at Raijharan following which they informed the police and his family.

On receiving information, Industrial Police Station (Nisa) IIC Priti Manjari Mendholi, Chhendipada BDO Sanjay Kumar Acharya and Additional Tehsildar Prakash Chandra Nayak reached the place and recovered the body.

A bicycle of the deceased person has also been recovered from the irrigation project site.

Though the reason of death is yet obscure, the police has registered an Unnatural Death case.
