COVID spike in Odisha: No decision on night curfew yet, says SRC

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government is yet to take any decision regarding night curfew in view of the spike in COVID-19 cases in the state, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena today after Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra held a meeting with district Collectors and concerned officials via video conferencing.

“It was decided in the meeting that COVID-19 testing will be increased in the state while tracking and treatment will be our focus. Sarpanches and ward members will be engaged to keep a watch on the situation at grassroots level. Covid management committees in villages, which were formed last year, will be reactivated,” he said.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will review the COVID-19 situation in the state tomorrow, the SRC said. The DGP has asked the SPs to intensify enforcement, especially at crowded places, he said.

“As many as 45 COVID-19 cases have been detected in Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. Their travel history is being ascertained,” he added.
