COVID Vaccination: 2nd consignment of Covishield reaches Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The second consignment of COVID-19 vaccine Covishield, developed by by Serum Institute of India (SII), today reached Odisha on SpiceJet cargo flight from Pune.

The consignment of 28 packets comprising 3,34,500 doses arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport here at around 3.50 PM. The vaccines were sent to state vaccine centre amid tight security and will later be transported to respective district vaccine stores in insulated vans after three days.

The vaccines would cover all 3,38,777 registered healthcare workers in the first phase of the drive.

Earlier in the day, Health and Family Welfare Director and Vaccine In-charge Bijay Panigrahi said healthcare workers refusing to take the vaccine during the ongoing immunization drive in the state will not be allowed for free vaccination again. However, those remain absent will be vaccinated free of cost in the next phase of the drive.
