COVID vaccination halted at 400 centres in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Due to scarcity of COVID-19 vaccines in the state, the vaccination has been halted at around 400 centres across the state. A letter has been sent to the Centre in this regard but no response had been received till yet, said Odisha Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi.

Currently, the vaccination is underway  at 1103 centres in the state.  However, ill be disrupted if the Centre does not supply vaccines in next two days, said the official.

“We are unable to set target of vaccinating people due to the shortfall. Currently, 1.85 lakh vaccine doses have been stored in cold chain points,” he added.

Yesterday, the senior official cautioned that COVID-19 is spreading faster in the second wave of the pandemic tough the death rate is low this time. He called upon all people of the state to be cautious and strictly follow all the guidelines.
