Cow vigilantism: GRP arrest two Bajrang Dal activists in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, May 27:

Four days after members of cow vigilante group assaulted railway personnel and staff of a dairy farm, Government Railway Police (GRP) today arrested two persons for their complicity in vandalism.

The two accused identified as Sudarshan Biswal and Sibananda Panda hail from Puri and Nayagarh districts respectively. While Biswal is a resident of Chintamaniswar area, Panda stays in Unit 1 area in the capital city.

As per sources, the duo is member of state unit Bajrang Dal.

Notably, a cow vigilante group assaulted railway employees and employees of Vertex Agritech Pvt Ltd at city railway station here over cattle trafficking. The employees were transporting milch cows from Salem to Guwahati on Kochuvelli Guwahati Express when the activists raided it.

The accused were part of the mob which roughed them up.

Following the incident, GRP registered a case under section 143, 332, 353, 147 of IPC and 174 (a) of Railways Act.

On the other hand, the rescued livestock would be transported to Guwahati tonight on Puri-Kamakshya Express from here.
