“Instead of summoning the witness or accused to Bhubaneswar to record his/her statement,  we will inquire why and under what circumstances the investigating officer (IO) visited his (Pankaj) house to record statement,” stated Commissioner of Police YB Khurania here today.

Khurania assured reporters to personally look into the matter.

Pankaj is the son of independent MLA from Champua Sanatan Mahakud.

Notably, a woman Kabita on March 1 claiming herself be the wife of Pankaj had filed a complaint of physical and mental harassment against the Champua MLA at the Mahila Police Station here.

Based on her complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 498 A, 341, 294 and 34 of the IPC.

Recently, Bijayini Malla, a police officer of the Mahila Police Station had visited Pankaj’s house in Keonjhar district to record his statement since he did not turn up before the police to record his deposition despite being served with notice to appear in person at the police station within 15 days.
