Hundreds of party workers marched in a procession from the state party headquarters to Raj Mahal Square holding placards and shouting slogans against the state government for failing to control the  rise in prices of essential items like onion and potao used daily by every household

CPI Bhubaneswar Zonal Committee secretary Sura Jena blamed the wholesalers for hiking the prices of onions and potatoes after creating an artificial shortage in the market and came down heavily on the Food and Consumer Supplies department for ‘neither monitoring the market nor taking action against the hoarders and black-marketeers’.

“If the department continues to allow the hoarders to carry on with their illegal business, we will gherao the supplies office soon,” Jena warned.
