New Delhi: The schedule for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 in India has been unveiled, featuring 10 venues for the tournament set to span 46 days later this year.
Commencing on October 5, the World Cup will open with a thrilling match between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, a repeat of the 2019 Final.
The host nation, India, will embark on their campaign on October 8 in Chennai, where they will face off against the five-time World Cup champions, Australia.
A total of 10 teams will participate in this prestigious event. The first eight have already secured their spots through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The remaining two positions will be determined at the conclusion of the Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, slated to end on July 9.
Using a round-robin format, each team will compete against the other nine, and the top four will advance to the knockout stage and semi-finals.
One of the most highly anticipated matches, the India-Pakistan clash, is scheduled for Sunday, October 15 in Ahmedabad. In their previous encounter during the 2019 World Cup, India emerged victorious with an impressive performance in Manchester.
The first semi-final will be held in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 15, followed by the second semi-final in Kolkata on the subsequent day. Both semi-final matches will have a reserve day allocated.
The grand finale will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19, with November 20 designated as the reserve day.
A total of 10 venues have been selected for the tournament: Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
