Criminal injured in police encounter in Odisha’s Aska

Aska, May 21:

Odisha police nabbed notorious criminal Chakanayan Nahak from Jhagadei area under Aska police limits of Ganjam following an encounter late last night.

As per a source in the police, Nahak has sustained a bullet injury on his leg and has been admitted to Aska hospital.

The incident occurred last night when he was roaming around on a motorbike along with one of his aides and was intercepted by a team of Aska police.

While the police tried to nab them, Nahak opened fire at the team. The cops retaliated back in defence and one of the bullets pierced his leg injuring him.

Two firearms have been recovered from him. There are a number of cases pending against him, said a source in the police.

Chaka’s aide, however, managed to flee during the encounter.
