Crop damage in over 10k ha due to unseasonal rain in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Crops in over 10,000 hectares suffered damage due to the recent unseasonal rain triggered by low pressure and subsequent depression, according to reports submitted to the State government by Collectors of the five affected districts.

While Puri, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts received unseasonal rainfall due to the low pressure, fortunately, crops in Cuttack and Kendrapara districts have suffered no damage, the Collectors have stated in their reports submitted to Revenue and Disaster Mitigation Minister Maheswar Mohanty.

“We have received reports of crop damage in over 10,000 hectares. However, there are no reports of any damage from Cuttack and Kendrapara districts,” informed Revenue and Disaster Mitigation Minister Maheswar Mohanty speaking to reporters today.

“We are making arrangements to provide assistance to the farmers in the three affected districts as soon as possible,” he added.
