Odisha Vigilance during a raid at the residence of a primary school headmaster in Koida block of Sundergarh district in connection with a disproportionate asset case has detected properties worth Rs one crore.
According to Vigilance sources, the anti-corruption wing sleuths conducted simultaneous searches at four houses including the government quarters of Pramod Samal, headmaster of Kudamusha Primary School in Koida block of Sundergarh district.
The officials have traced movable and immovable properties worth over Rs one crore belonging to him.
While Samal’s house at Jhirpani in Rourkela has been valued at over Rs 48 lakh, his house at Kapila under Binjharpur block in Jajpur district has been valued at Rs 7 lakh.
Similarly, Samal possesses two plots of land worth Rs 3 lakh in Sunderpada locality of Bhubaneswar.
Apart from over Rs one lakh cash seized from his residence, bank deposit worth Rs 15 lakh, LIC policy of Rs 11 lakh, a postal deposit of Rs 4.5 lakh, NSC deposit of Rs 1.1 lakh, household articles worth Rs 3 lakh, an SUV and a two wheeler have been traced.
A locker in a bank at Rourkela is yet to be opened by Vigilance sleuths.
While Samal has claimed that he has taken voluntary retirement on September 30, this has not been confirmed by the Vigilance.
Samal was appointed as an assistant teacher in the year 1982 and was promoted to the rank of headmaster in the year 1998.
