Vigilance department sleuths today conducted simultaneous raids at five places in connection with a disproportionate assets case against Agasti Patnaik, Revenue Inspector (RI) of Khirachora in Remuna Tehsil of Odisha’s Balasore district.

Officials of the anti-corruption agency simultaneously raided five places-Patnaik’s two houses in Balasore, his ancestral house at Alalbindha, his office and his father-in-law’s house at Deulahat under Bhograi block, informed Vigilance sources.

Sources revealed that moveable and immoveable properties worth over Rs 1.5 crore belonging to Patnaik have been traced.

While Patnaik’s Padhuapada residence has been estimated to be worth about Rs 90 lakh by the Vigilance, the combined value including all other moveable and immoveable properties detected so far has been estimated to be over Rs 1.5 crore, the same sources added.

“This house has been estimated to be worth Rs 90 lakh. We have also found LIC policies which have deposits of Rs 15 lakh,” informed Sunil Kumar Senapati, Vigilance SP Balasore.

“Since raids are continuing the value of his properties are likely to go up,” he added.
