Crorepati Tehsildar in Odisha Vigilance dragnet

Odisha Vigilance sleuths today conducted simultaneous raids at five places in connection with a disproportionate assets case against a Tehsildar and unearthed assets amounting to crores of rupees.

The officials of Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division raided the office and residence of Paikamal Tehsildar Jankinath Mishra. The members of the anti-corruption wing conducted raids at Mishra’s rented house and office at Paikamal in Bargarh district, official residence at Unit II and an appartment under Dumduma area in Bhubaneswar; paternal house at Barchana in Jajpur district.

The officials detected movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 1, 40, 97, 000.

“We had been receiving complaints of Mishra accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Today, five teams conducted simultaneous raids including the official residence near Master Canteen, Cosmopolis appartment, parental house at Nuasasan in Jajpur district, rented house and office at Paikamal,” Vigilance SP BN Gocchayat said.

During the raid, 206 gm gold jewellery, 221 gm silver jewellery, one car, one scooterette, Rs 2.53 lakh cash, two houses at Rourkela and Bhubaneswar, bank deposits of Rs 87, 000 were detected. The officials estimate the value of the property possessed by Mishra at nearly Rs 2 crore.
