Crorepati WATSAN staff under Odisha Vigilance scanner

Vigilance sleuths today raided the residence and office of an employee of WATSAN (Water and Sanitation Mission) in Odisha’s Balasore district in connection with a disproportionate assets case against him.

Acting on allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income against Tushar Kanta Raj, District Programme Coordinator, WATSAN (Water and Sanitation Mission), the sleuths conducted simultaneous raids on the office of the Executive Engineer, RWS&S Division here, his government quarter at Rajabagicha, his office chamber, a double storied building at Angargadia, apartment at Radharani Tower in Bhubaneswar, his parental house at Patharapentha and his father-in-law’s house at Oupada on the strength of search warrant issued by the court.

During search, the officer of Vigilance Balasore division detected movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 1, 01, 97, 786 in his and his family members. The raids were on till the filing of this report.

The movable and immovable assets include a 3-BHK apartment at Radharani Tower in Bhubaneswar of Rs 29.55 lakh, one double storied building at Angargadia in Balasore of around Rs 29 lakh, a plot in Balasore town of around Rs 1.58 lakh, payments made for construction of double storied building at Patharapentha of Rs 11 lakh, deposits in different banks in the name of Raj and his family members of Rs 12.25 lakh, Rs 10.78 lakh payment of life insurance premium, gold ornaments of Rs 3 lakh, Rs 65, 000 cash and cost of two two-wheelers valued at Rs 1.25 lakh.
