‘Crorepati’ woman teacher arrested by Vigilance in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance today arrested a woman teacher Tilottama Mohanty on charges of amassing property disproportionate to her known sources of income. She owned disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.45 crore out of her total property of Rs 1.87 crore, a release issued by the Vigilance stated.

She had a house worth Rs 40 lakh in Uttara Sasan on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Besides, she owned nine plots worth Rs 1 crore, possessed bank accounts with fixed deposit of Rs 36 lakh and LIC bond worth Rs 25 lakh.

Earlier in the day, three teams of Vigilance raided her official residence in Bhubaneswar, houses in Uttara Sasana and Ranapur of Nayagarh.

Tilottama had joined the government service as a teacher in 1989. But after she worked as teacher at CT Training School in Unit-6, Bhubaneswar in 2009 there was a meteoric growth in her property.
