CRPF jawan run over by speeding truck in Odisha’s Nuapada

Investigation revealed that the driver was in an inebriated condition and was heading towards Raipur. He was nabbed and the vehicle seized. 

Nuapada: In an extremely tragic mishap, a CRPF jawan died after a coal-laden truck hit his bike in Komna block of Odisha’s Nuapada district on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as Chaitanya Sabar (40) of Khirmal village under Rokal panchayat of Boden block.

The accused driver Pradip Singh has been arrested and will be produced in court today.

As per reports, Sabar was deployed at the CRPF 216 battalion camp at Barkot in Komna block. On Sunday evening at around 5.30 pm, he was coming to Komna for some work when he was hit by a speeding truck near the fire station and suffered grievous injuries. Locals rushed him to the district headquarters hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Investigation revealed that the driver was in an inebriated condition and was heading towards Raipur. He was nabbed and the vehicle seized.

Nuapada SP GR Raghavendra along with Sadar IIC Dillip Sahu reached the hospital on getting information and initiated a probe.

“The accused driver was found under the influence of alcohol and has been held. He will be produced in court. The vehicle has been seized. A case has been registered under Sections 279 and 304 of the IPC and further investigation is underway,” the SP informed.
