CRPF, Maoists exchange fire in Odisha’s Bolangir district

The CRPF and SOG personnel seized a huge cache of arms and explosives from a Maoist camp atop a hill of Gandhamardan hill region in Harishankar area of Odisha’s Bolangir district after an exchange of fire on Sunday.

According to reports, a team of CRPF and SOG (Special Operation Group) personnel, led by CRPF deputy commandant PK Mishra, assistant commandant Benu Babu and commandant Tapan Kumar undertook a joint combing operation in the hill forest area near Trilingeswar temple at Kandrabhata in Harishankar area along the Gandhamardan hill region of the district in the morning.

During the operation, the security personnel came to know about a Maoist camp at a height of 860 feet atop the hill.

In the meanwhile, the Maoists, present at the camp, opened fire at the security personnel who immediately retaliated.

After a brief exchange of fire, the Maoists fled the area.

The security personnel later stormed the Maoist camp and seized seven bundles of wire, 37 gelatin sticks, six detonators, one laptop, two bundles of GI wire, medicine box, food items, uniforms, posters and leaflets which were later displayed at a press briefing at Khaprakhol.
