Cruise ship rave party: Two youth from Odisha, who were arrested, get bail

Mumbai/Bhubaneswar: Two youth from Odisha, who were arrested in connection with the Mumbai cruise ship rave party case, got bail today. The duo was among the 20 persons who were arrested in the case till date.

While hearing the bail applications moved by Manish Rajgaria and Avin Sahu, the Special NDPS Court granted the bail to the two youth from Odisha. They are residents of Rourkela city and were guests in the rave party aboard the cruise ship.

Manish and Avin are the first accused to get bail in the case. While Manish has a sponge iron plant at Raghunathpali, Avin owns a jewellery shop at Ringroad Taxi Stand in Rorukela.

While Rajgaria was accused of possessing 2.4 gms of ganja, Sahu was charged with accepting that he had consumed drugs twice on the ship, and nabbed after the cruise ship returned to Mumbai from Goa on October 4.

Arguing for bail, Sahu’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan contended that the NCB did not conduct a medical examination to ascertain if her client had indeed consumed drugs.

Seeking bail for Rajgaria, his lawyer Taraq Sayed said that no recovery was made from his client and the 2.4 gms of ganja allegedly shown in his possession was handed over by the ship security personnel to the NCB.

Earlier, the Bombay High Court adjourned hearing on the bail applications moved by Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, till 2:30 PM tomorrow. The court will also resume its hearing on bail pleas of Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha.
