Bhubaneswar, Sep 28:

The days of breathless campaign process and doling out promises by the dozens are over for candidates in college and university elections in Odisha. It is now over to the  voters, who will decide the fate of the candidates contesting various posts of students’ unions, elections for which will be held on Monday.

Even though it was Sunday today, the candidates of different colleges and universities reached out to the students making their final pitch to woo the voters and coaxing them to cast their votes in their favour. The candidates, along with their supporters, campaigned  extensively in the hostels while some moved from door to door touching students at their homes.

“We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the wining possibility of our candidates in the elections. We have campaigned extensively since the polls dates were declared. We are confident enough that our efforts would not go in vain,” said Manas Sahu, a candidate of Utkal University.

Major political parties, which have thrown their weight behind the candidates, have also chalked out their strategy for the elections and are providing all support to them.

Meanwhile, the police administration has deployed adequate security personnel in various colleges and universities for smooth conduct of elections without any untoward incidents.

Since the results for the polls are to be declared the same day, the administration is leaving nothing to chance and has deployed adequate security personnel. In Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police has already deployed security personnel since the declaration of the polls in colleges and Utkal University.
