Cuttack: A mobile phone theft accused escaped from police custody and jumped into Mahanadi river in Odisha's Cuttack city, today.

According to reports, the Cantonment police had detained one Bablu Behera for questioning in connection with the offence.

Later, he fled the police station and jumped into the water body, presumably to evade arrest.

Till last reports came in, efforts were on by cops to trace him in the river.
