Cuttack couple murder: Tenant among 3 accused detained

Cuttack: In a major development in the sensational Cuttack elderly couple murder case, police have detained as many as three persons, including a tenant, for questioning over their alleged complicity in the murder.

According to reports, police last night picked up a person from Berhampur who was residing at a rented house of the deceased. During interrogation, involvement of two others in the killings came to fore, following which the two were also detained for questioning at an undisclosed location, reports added.

Police are yet to disclose the names of the accused and details regarding the development.

Notably, blood-soaked bodies of Srinath Samal (72), a retired employee of FCI, and his wife Bidyulata Samal (65) were found inside their house at Beleswar New Colony under Madhupatna police limits in Cuttack city.  Police had seized a blood-stained kitchen knife and a chopper from the spot.
