Cuttack eatery owner arrested for poisoning 20 dogs to death

Bhubaneswar: Police today arrested an eatery owner for allegedly poisoning as many as 20 stray dogs to death in five days at Shankarpur village in Choudwar area of Cuttack district.

A case has been registered against accused Ajay Kumar Sahoo under Sections 294, 353, 429, 332 and 506 of the IPC.

The matter came to fore yesterday when 10 dogs were found lying dead near Sahoo’s shop. He allegedly added poison to Gulugula, a local snack, and fed the canines.

It is suspected that he took the extreme step to get rid of the dogs as the animals were defecating around his shop.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by the villagers, police apprehended Sahoo.
