Cuttack ‘serial killer’ involved in triple murder arrested

Cuttack: In a major breakthrough in the Cuttack serial murder case, the Twin City Commissionerate Police have arrested a person for his suspected involvement in the killings.

The arrested has been identified as Narayan Sahu of Odagaon, informed Cuttack DCP Akhileshwar Singh, today. “He is being questioned. Prima facie the person doesn’t appear to be mentally-challenged,” the police official said.

Sahu had absconded after the triple murder and five police teams were formed to nab him, Singh said.

Informing further about the development, Twin City Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty said the accused had used similar weapon of offence in all the three murders.

He was identified on the basis of CCTV footage and forensic reports, Mohanty said.

On July 23 night, a 55-year-old daily wager namely Kodanda Rout was found dead with his throat slit near Taladanda Canal in Ranihat under Mangalabag police station.

Next day, an elderly man was found with similar injury marks on his neck and head at Ranihat. Though he was rescued and rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

On the very day, a 35-year-old man was found dead in a pool of blood under the OMP overbridge. The body bore deep injury marks on the neck and head.
