Cyclone Amphan: Central team begins damage assessment in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A central team headed by Joint Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs Shri Prakash, who arrived here last evening for on-the-spot assessment of damages caused by cyclone Amphan in Odisha last month, has left for the affected districts for the task.

Two members from Bhubaneswar have accompanied the five officials from the Centre. The team has been divided into two groups. One team left for Kendrapara while another went to Balasore for the damage assessment. Tomorrow, the teams will visit Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur districts separately.

After the visit, the central team will also hold a discussion with state Government officials, including the Chief Secretary Asit Tipathy, before leaving for New Delhi.

Worth mentioning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Odisha post the cyclone on on May 22 and announced an interim relief of Rs 500 crore.
