Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha are likely to experience rainfall and squally wind due to Cyclone 'Asani' over the Bay of Bengal, the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted today.

"The Cyclonic Storm is very likely to move northwestwards and intensify further into a Severe Cyclonic Storm over east central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. It is very likely to continue to move northwestwards till 10th May evening and reach Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh & Odisha coasts. Thereafter, it is very likely to recurve north-northeastwards and move towards Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast," the Meteorological Centre said in its bulletin.

Rainfall Warning

10th May: Light to moderate rainfall very likely to commence from 10th evening at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha and Heavy Rainfall (7 -11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, and Puri.

11th May: Light to moderate rainfall very likely at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha and Heavy Rainfall (7-11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack.

12th May: Light to moderate rainfall very likely at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha and Heavy Rainfall (7-11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore.

Wind Warning: Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely along and off Odisha coast on 11th and 12th May.
