Cyclone Bulbul: Two-day holiday for schools and colleges in these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: In view of the weather forest on Cyclone Bulbul, three district administrations today declared a two-day holiday for government and privately-run educational institutions.

As per the decision taken by the administrations of Puri, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts, holiday has been announced for Anganwadis, schools and colleges on November 8 and 9. Also, the Kendrapara administration cancelled leaves of its staff.

Later the administrations of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Mayurbhanj and Jajpur districts announced that educational institutions to remain closed on November 9 in view of heavy rains.

The weathermen forecast the sea will be rough since November 8 morning. Light to moderate rain will occur at many places in Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj districts. Thatch houses, electricity and telephone poles are likely to be affected by the wind while Cyclone Bulbul will cross Bay of Bengal towards Bangladesh and West Bengal.

On November 9, wind speed is likely to touch 55 to 65 kmph in the morning. But later in the afternoon wind may blow at a speed of 70-80 kmph.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
