Cyclone ‘FANI’: Central team to visit Odisha for damage assessment

Bhubaneswar: A team of Home Affairs department of the central government will visit Cyclone-hit Odisha to assess the damage caused.

The central team led by Additional Secretary of the Home Affairs Department, Vivek Bhardwaj will tour the cyclone affected areas of Odisha between May 12 and May 15.

A statement released by the Home Ministry has stated that the Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha had directed a team to visit the state, on Odisha’s request for rapid assessment of the damage caused by the cyclone.

Worth mentioning, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today wrote to Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma urging the latter to send a team of Archeological Survey of India (ASI) to the state for assessing damage caused to Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri during cyclone FANI.
